Angeles City launches Fiestang Kuliat 2011

ANGELES CITY — With its theme “Sulagpo Ta Na!”, Fiestang Kuliat 2011 will kick off Friday at the Activity Center of Marquee Mall, Pulung Maragul, this city.
This year’s Fiestang Kuliat will start off in a grand fashion via an explosive three-fold event.

Angeleños are invited to soar high into the sky with the official “Sulagpo Ta Na” Fiestang Kuliat grand kick-off program, under the concept, choreography and direction of world-class artist Peter A. De Vera.
Coinciding with the activity will be the grand Angeleño welcome for American Idol Season 10 Finalist Thia Megia, who, at the height of the US talent search, in a resolution sponsored by Councilor Edgardo Pamintuan Jr., was commended by the Angeles City Council for her amazing feat.
The 16-year-old singing sensation will be recognized by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting, the city councilors, and First Lady Herminia D. Pamintuan for bringing pride to the city, as well as for being the youngest finalist ever to appear in the prestigious search.
Megia is also expected to perform several songs for the public.
Megia, through her mother, who is originally from Barangay Sta. Teresita, is a certified Angeleña.
The same event will also host the press presentation of Fiestang Kuliat’s “Ginoo at Mutya Ning Angeles”, where 24 young men and women vying for the coveted titles will be presented to the public and the media.
“The annual Fiestang Kuliat is a symbolic celebration of the Angeleños’ resolve to attain economic stability and prosperity, thus it goes beyond the mere notion that it is a simple fiesta,” said Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.
Pamintuan also said that this year’s version is “all-encompassing” in nature because it will tackle arts and culture, sports and community involvement activities.
The month-long celebration will be composed of 40 events ranging from photo exhibits, chariot races, food fairs and sports competitions to medical and dental missions, blood-letting programs, tree-planting, city-wide clean-up and even a massive job fair.
This year’s Fiestang Kuliat will also see the return of the Civic-Military Parade, as well as the much-anticipated “Tigtigan, Terakan King Dalan” Festival 2011. (Reynaldo Navales)
