BIR to hold ‘Mega Sale’ of forfeited properties in CL

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will be hosting on July 25 the first ever “Mega Sale” of real properties it has forfeited for non-payment of taxes.
BIR Central Luzon director Romulo Aguila Jr. said the BIR here will be auctioning off some 10 lot properties in Barangay Colo, Dinalupihan in Bataan town.
The sale is part of the BIR’s tax revenue measures aimed giving due sanctions to delinquent tax payers who repeatedly fail to settle the right amount of taxes. The move is pursuant to the authority given to the BIR under Section 216 of 1997.
The properties which are set for auction have been forfeited for non-payment of internal revenue taxes. The Mega Sale is the first ever public auction being implemented by the BIR and will be piloted in Revenue Regions of Pampanga and Bacolod City.
“We see this auction as a warning to delinquent tax payers that the BIR is really serious with its move to improve tax collection and run after delinquent tax payers,” Aguila told Sun.Star Pampanga, stressing that the BIR in Central Luzon is also reviewing delinquent tax payers in Pampanga.
Tarlac revenue officer Miguel Morada of Tarlac, in an interview with Sun.Star Pampanga, said they are now finalizing the review of the delinquent tax payers in Tarlac province for the inclusion in the Mega Sale program this July.
The real properties under the jurisdiction of BIR Central Luzon will be simultaneously sold at a public auction sale on per property basis at the Unity Bank, Capitol Drive in Balanga City.
Aguila said the auction is open to all individuals who would like to participate. Minimum bid price for the properties in that auction start on P100,000.
