Bizman happy on modification of awarding body’s guidelines

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Businessman Rene Romero on Wednesday expressed his appreciation on Capitol’s move to have the selection, nomination, and decision-making processes of the Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards (MOKA) modified.
Vice Governor Joseller Guiao earlier revealed in an interview the plan designed to “cast away doubts” and prevent another controversy on the annual recognition rites.
Romero also said he was “amused” on the reaction of Caesar Lacson, a member of the board of judges of the 2010 MOKA.
Romero, a nominee in this year’s MOKA, said he was not after the award but for the sake of the now vibrant business sector, which he dubbed a “pillar” in Pampanga’s rise to prominence.
The businessman also clarified that he is not fighting with anyone and dragging Capitol officials in the controversy.
He said he and other fellows in the business sector, after Guiao’s statements, consider the issue “closed.”
“But we will remain vigilant and on the lookout for ‘influence peddlers’ and ‘termites’ at Capitol who really are destroying and manipulating good governance for their personal gains,” Romero said. (Jovi T. De Leon)
