Daycare children benefit from supplemental feeding program

CANDABA – Hundreds of children from 35 daycare centers in this town have benefited from a Supplemental Feeding Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Myline Biccay, Candaba municipal social welfare development officer, said daycare children have been served regular meals during lunchtime for almost a month.
“The feeding program started last July 18 and ended last week. Regular meals were administered by parents of the children based on the cycle menu prepared by nutritionists,”she said.
This program is not only intended to improve nutritional status of target children but also to enhance the knowledge and practices of children, including their parents on intensified nutrition and health education.
It was learned that the concerned children underwent de-worming and weighing by the barangay health workers before the supplemental feeding program started. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
