Fines for illegally parked vehicles suspended

ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog warned drivers and owners of illegally parked vehicles that they only have until end of July to enjoy no penalties and other sanctions.
In a meeting with the transport sector composed of officials of different transport organizations on Wednesday, Mabilog said that in the meantime, no penalty will be given on vehicles caught illegally parked, but violators will be issued with a warning ticket.
The city mayor also created a Traffic Review Committee to look into the complaints of jeepney and taxi drivers regarding their traffic violations by challenging the citation ticket issued by the Traffic Management and Transport Regulation Office (TMTRO).
The five-member committee will be meeting once a week and will be composed of the chief of City Legal Office, City Council chairman of the Committee on Transportation, TMTRO chief and presidents of two transport groups.
Mabilog said the penalty for illegal parking will be suspended until end of July but subsequent violators will be fined starting August 1.
Both the blue guard TMTRO agents and traffic policemen will issue the TOP citation to violators.
