CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Quarry collections of the administration of Governor Lilia Pineda has surpassed the revenues posted for a year by the previous administration.
Documents obtained by Sun.Star Pampanga from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) and the office of the Kapampangan A Lulugud At Matapat (Kalam) showed that quarry revenues were recorded at P238,320,000 during the June 10 cut-off date, surpassing the 2009 collection of P203,640,000 of the past administration, which won for former Governor Ed Panlilio a Gawad Galing Pook award.
Records show that from July 1 — when Pineda assumed office and Kalam took over quarry operations from the defunct Biyaya A Luluguran At Sisikapan or Balas — to December 31 last year, quarry revenues were posted at P119,385,000.
From January 3 to June 10 this year, collections were noted at P118,935,000 for the record breaking total of P238,320,000.
The last six months collections of the previous administration pegged at P96,870,000, pales in comparison to the current administration’s P119,385,000, according to Penro chief Art Punsalan, who noted that the average collection per month now stands at P20 million.
“We are sure to hit an all time high in quarry revenues since we have a week more before July 1. The record-breaking feat could be attributed to our instituted systems and mechanisms where we have eradicated recycling of receipts and other anomalies in our quarry operations,” Punsalan told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Punsalan also noted the increase in the number of accredited trucks and quarry haulers.
He said that in 2009, 4,300 trucks were accredited, while in 2010, 4,407 applied.
“At P830 per truck, that’s an additional P3,657,810 for the Provincial Government. There was also an increase in the number of hauling pass applicants from July last year to May this for millions more for the government’s coffers. The way figures and trends are going, we will certainly hit a milestone in our quarry collections,” he added.
