School-based employment office agreement signed

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — At least six universities and colleges in Pampanga signed an agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) for the establishment of school-based Public Employment Service Offices (Pesos).
Among the schools that signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) are the University of the Assumption (UA), Holy Angel University (HAU), Guagua National Colleges (GNC), Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU), Pampanga Agricultural Colleges (PAC), and St. Nicholas College of Business and Technology (SNCBT).
The agreement signing was held at the Executive House of the Provincial Capitol and was witnessed by Provincial Administrator Andres Pangilinan Jr.
Pangilinan represented Governor Lilia Pineda.
“The school-based Pesos are established to further assist graduating students in finding and landing sustainable jobs after they graduate from school,” Ernesto Bihis, regional director of the Dole in Central Luzon, said.
Bihis added that the existence of PESOS in schools would make employment programs and services readily available to graduating students.
“Pesos in schools would also resolve jobs mismatch, unemployment, and underemployment because students will be guided on what career and employment paths to choose from through the proactive approach in career guidance counseling seminars,” Bihis said.
