2 killed, 4 wounded in Bulacan shooting
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police are now looking into the identities of three suspects in the killing of a businessman and his friend in Bocaue, Bulacan Sunday night.
Chief Supt. Edgardo T. Ladao, Police Regional Office 3 director, directed the newly created “Task Force Mendoza” to dig deeper into the case of Mario Mendoza and unmasked his killers.
Mendoza and his friend, identified only as Goymon, were killed when one of the suspects barged into the victim’s house located in Barangay Kaingin, Bocaue at about 8 p.m. and started a shooting rampage.
Senior Supt. Joel Orduna, Bulacan police director, said four persons were also wounded in the incident.
Orduna identified them as Raul Samonte, 48 of Barangay San Juan, Balagtas town; Valeriano Nicolas, 46 of Barangay Kaingin, Bocaue town; Reynaldo de la Cruz, 32 of Baragay Balubad, Bulakan town and Alberto Alberto, 36 of Barangay Santol, Balagtas town all of Bulacan. The wounded were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators said only one of the suspects carried out the killing. The two other suspects acted as backup and lookouts.
It was learned that Mendoza and his friends were celebrating following the blessing of his newly-built house when a man wearing a bonnet on his head started to shoot them.
After the shooting, the gunman then lobed a grenade at the house before fleeing along with two other suspects on board three motorcycles.
Orduna said his men are still collating evidence to determine the identities of the suspects.
Prior to his death, Mendoza reportedly received death threats but ignored it. It was also learned that their house was strafed with bullets before Christmas and one of his stepdaughters was kidnapped two months ago.
Police recovered from the crime scene seven empty shells and six slugs of cal. 45 pistol, grenade fragments and a matchbox of shabu. ●Rudy J. Abular
