Agencies told to coordinate infra projects with Capitol

APALIT — A member of the Provincial Board said Thursday that regional agencies in charge of infrastructure development in Pampanga should coordinate with the Capitol before implementing any project to avoid duplication.
Board Member Ricardo Yabut, committee chair on public works, said the province is almost done with the Pampanga Development Plan (PDP) and all infrastructure projects — whether funded by the local government units or the national government — should be done in line with the existing PDP.
To further strengthen his position on this matter, Yabut is set to file a resolution urging concerned agencies to coordinate all incoming projects before actual implementation.
“Gusto lang natin na magkaroon ng master development plan pagdating sa infrastructure. Hindi pwedeng kanya-kanya tayo ng gawa tapos hindi nagkikita yung ating mga daan,” he added.
Yabut believes that with proper coordination, the supposed projects will be implemented in accordance with the provincial development plan to the best interest of the Kapampangans.
He also cited instances when infra projects became sources of corruption and irregularity in government transactions.
“Kung minsan isang project pinopondohan ng dalawang beses,” he stressed.
