‘Balik Eskwela, Libreng Gupit’ program in Dinalupihan
DINALUPIHAN, Bataan- Hundreds of school children availed themselves of the free haircut conducted Saturday and Sunday here preparatory to the opening of classes on Monday.
Barangay Captains ElizaldeTorno and Danny dela Cruz of Saguing and San Ramon, respectively, said last Saturday alone in Barangay Pinulot, more than 300 children were given free haircut under their program “Balik Eskwela, Libreng Gupit”.
On Sunday, the project was undertaken at the stage of Barangay Magsaysay with five barbers. “Pang-labimpito na itong nagugupitan ko buhat kaninang umaga,” said one of the barbers.
The two barangay heads said that even after classes started, they would go on with the project in 46 villages of Dinalupihan.
“Nakita namin ang kahirapan ng buhay sa mga barangay kaya kahit sa libreng gupit ay makatulong man lamang kami sa mga magulang ngayong pasukan,” Torno said.
Parents accompanying their children were grateful for the program. ‘Malaking bagay dahil nakatipid kami. Tulad ko na may dalawang anak, nakatipid ako ng P100 na gagamitin kong pambili ng ibang gamit sa paaralan ng mga anak ko,” said Marites Maniego.
Other mothers like Divina Domingo who has also two children attending school thanked Torno, dela Cruz and other barangay captains for sponsoring “Balik Eskwela, Libreng Gupit”.
