Big crowd expected in Sabuaga Festival

STO. TOMAS – Thousands of tourists from different parts of the country and abroad are expected to visit this small fourth district town to witness the Sabuaga Festival, which will be held on Easter Sunday, April 24.
Mayor Joselito Naguit told Sun.Star Pampanga over the weekend that preparations have been two months ago to make sure that tourists and residents will be treated to a whole day of events.
Naguit said starting the event off is an early morning procession of the Virgin Mary and the Risen Christ, followed by a play depicting the resurrection, Salubong/Opening of Puso-Puso, Eastern Procession and Symbolic Burning of the effigy of Capital Sins.
He said the formal opening of the Sabuaga Festival will be held in the afternoon, adding that townsfolk here will participate in the parade of floats, street dance parade and free interpretation competition as they go around the town proper.
Naguit added that during the street parade, the barangays of this municipality will be promoting their products which include pottery, caskets, and garments, among others. Also highlighted will be local livelihood such as fishery, agriculture and automotive works.
He said a grand fireworks display and variety show featuring local and national artist will also be held in the evening.
“Agkatan kula pu reng kekatamung cabalen, reng siping tamung balen, probisya at turista na bisitan da kami pu king Easter Sunday para makyabe lapu king pamagsaya ning Sabuaga Festival, uling ini yapu ing aldo ning muling pangabiye ng Hesukristo,” Naguit said.
The mayor said this year’s guest of honor is Governor Lilia Pineda, who will be accompanied by Vice Governor Joseller Guiao and 4th District Board Members Nestor Tolentino and Ric Yabut.
