Bomb threat halts bus convoy in SCTEX

MANILA, Philippines—A convoy of nine buses carrying students on their way to Clark, Pampanga has reportedly stopped at the shoulder of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) near the Clark exit because of a bomb threat, police said Friday.

Initial reports reaching Camp Crame said that the buses of the Astro bus company came from the Infant Jesus Montessori Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite, and were on their way to Clark Air Base when the school principal, who was on one of the buses, received a bomb threat through a text message.

MJ Valencia of the SCTEX’s traffic control unit said that the passengers were temporarily brought to the toll plaza while the bomb experts from the Philippine Air Force conducted investigation.

Aside from the nine buses, two others are still in Bacoor, Cavite and are also undergoing bomb search, Valencia said.
