Boom time for California wine

It’s a truism: Make a lot of money in the tech world, then go find your passion. And for many tech expats, that passion is wine.

In this week’s Business Journal, you’ll meet former executives from Hewlett-Packard, Synopsys and Covad who jumped from bytes to brix.

Those making the jump are doing so at a great time. The U.S.’s thirst for wine is growing, up 34 percent over the past decade.

And Silicon Valley, often overshadowed by cousins Napa and Sonoma, is poised to grab market share for local wine drinkers.
