Daycare workers, pupils benefit from P2.4M aid

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Third district Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. distributed Sunday some P2.4 million in assistance to various daycare students and teachers of the district to help improve the quality of education at the grassroots.
Recipients of the aid were some 8,000 daycare students represented by 180 daycare teachers from this city, Arayat, Bacolor, Mexico and Sta. Ana towns.
The donation — broken down into various fees and expenses needed by the pupils — forms part of the yearly assistance given by Gonzales to daycare pupils of the district.
“The assistance aims to improve the kind of education at the grassroots level by removing all the financial worries from parents, pupils and the teachers themselves. Teachers with proper compensation tend to do their jobs well and parents can devote the money they intend for the school expenses into other needs of their families,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said the daycare pupils can now study without the worry of paying for incidental fees and other concerns. He said teachers will also be able to access necessary funds for the improvement of their teaching materials.
“This assistance does not remove the responsibility of parents to also help in the education of their children. I am urging parents to create their own groups and help in their respective community daycare centers,” Gonzales said, adding that the daycare education system depends on the help of government and most importantly the community where they operate.
Gonzales added he has instructed his staff to help daycare teachers in need of medical assistance, stressing that most daycare teachers subsist on the honorariums given to them by parents and government.
The congressman also said that daycare teachers in the district in need of eyeglasses would be provided for by his staff in the coming weeks. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
