Heritage district in the works
ANGELES CITY – The City Government will now work full time in the creation and establishment of a heritage district in this city, a top official said.
This development came after the Museo ning Angeles was recently declared as an important cultural property and was turned-over to the National Museum of the Philippines.
Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting said that through the insistence of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, the City Council had worked out supporting ordinances not only for the utmost preservation of the Museo ning Angeles, but other historical edifices in the city.
“It’s in the works and we are looking at a heritage district from Sto. Rosario Street to Lakandula where a lot of rich cultural and heritage structures abound,” she said.
Vega-Cabigting added that the City Council would pass more ordinances on their preservation, if needed.
“We will definitely study passing more ordinances regarding culture and heritage if needed so that we could strictly pursue the preservation of such structures, especially now that the Museo ning Angeles has been declared a national cultural property,” she said.
