Hundreds to benefit from capitol’s livelihood project
February 07,2011
MEXICO — At least 204 natives from this town has been briefed and registered to be potential beneficiaries of the Negosyo king Panyulung Program (NPP), the flagship livelihood program of Governor Lilia Pineda.
Mamerto Gatus, chief of the Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCDEO), said the potential beneficiaries are residents of Barangay Anao in this town.
“They are the second batch of beneficiaries of the Capitol’s outreach program which targets to reach far-flung communities throughout the province,” Gatus said.
The NPP was launched by Pineda on December to provide financial loan assistance to qualified micro entrepreneurs in marginalized areas of Pampanga.
Gatus said two NPP associations who were beneficiaries of the program have already handed P24,000 to Pineda, which was their first amortization fee.
Aside from the livelihood briefing, the Provincial Government has also delivered free medical, dental and other health care services to residents of Barangay Anao.
The free health services were part of the “Pamipulung-Pulung King Panyulung”, a program in line with Pineda’s desire to bring the services of the Capitol directly to far-flung communities.
The province-wide program was first launched in Candaba town where medical and dental missions, animal vaccination, orientations on livelihood and employment opportunities, agriculture and aqua-culture services were conducted by various offices and departments of the Provincial Government.
Aside from these services, Pineda held a dialogue with village leaders to discuss issues and concerns for the Provincial Government’s intervention.
A total of 200 patients from Candaba availed of the free dental services while out of some 300 persons, several underwent minor cyst removal surgery while the more serious cases have been referred to the Amando Garcia Memorial Hospital in Angeles City.
