Lawmaker honors three-termer village councilors

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Pampanga Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr. on Monday honored three-termer barangay councilors in this city, urging them to continue their legacy of public service by being active partners of the current barangay officials.
The congressman led the awarding ceremonies at his district office in Barangay Sindalan here attended by some 230 incumbent barangay councilors from the various barangays of the city.
“These officials were elected for three consecutive terms because the people believed in them. May their achievement become the inspiration of the current officials in the barangay level,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales gave plaques of appreciation to former barangay councilors Gina Jacinto and Carmelita Jacinto (Malpitic), Butch Quiambao (San Juan), Jesus Lugtu and Conrado Buan (Telabastagan), Carlo Lazaro (Sto. Rosario), Faustino Pamintuan (Baliti), Jose Sicat (Maimpis), Gilbert Miranda and June Calalang (Pandaras), Rogelio Santos (Dolores), Romeo Elagio (Juliana), Pablo Pamintuan and Angelo Almario (Magliman), William Jimenez and Elmer Santos (Del Rosario), Baby Mangulabnan (Alasas) and Clarita Tandoc (San Felipe).
Other awardees include Andy Torres (Quebiawan), Juanito Sampang (Dolores), Lorencito Cancino (Malpitic) and Randy Pasion and Nelson Laxamana (Dela Paz Sur).
Gonzales urged the former village officials to continue their legacy of service by making themselves available to the incumbent officials. He said that the former barangay councilors are in a position to give the incumbent officials handy advice on many issues in the barangay.
“Public service does not end with a person’s term. Even though they are no longer barangay officials the true public servant will always be there for the people with or without an official mandate,” Gonzales said. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
