Local price monitoring team formed

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan issued an order that seeks to establish a local price coordinating council to avoid unreasonable prices this holiday season.

“An active local price coordinating council will ensure the availability of basic goods to consumers and prevent unreasonable price increases,” Pamintuan said.

Pamintuan created the Angeles City Price Coordinating Council (ACPCC) under Executive Order Number 45.

The executive order is in line with Section 5 Rule VI of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 7581 or “An Act Providing Protection to Consumers by Stabilizing the Prices of Basic Commodities.”

ACPCC’s function will include the conduct of regular inspections of public and private markets, and rice and grocery warehouses; activate hotlines, consumer complaints desks and Timbangan ng Bayan; deputize barangay officials and non-government organizations to monitor abnormal price increases and coordinate with appropriate government agencies to prevent unwarranted price increase and hoarding of rice and other prime commodities.

Pamintuan will head the ACPCC while City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan will serve as the deputy head.

ACPCC will be also composed of the city’s treasurer, police director, information officer, legal officer, and representatives from the business and private sector and government agencies. (Charlene Cayabyab)
