Mabalacat cops recover hijacked truck
April 13, 2011
MABALACAT — The town police on Monday recovered a truck, reported hijacked in Laguna province two days ago, in Barangay Dau here.
Supt. Rolly Mendoza, town police chief, said his men found the abandoned six-wheeler closed-van (UMZ 195) in front of the El Retiro memorial park along the North Luzon Expressway access road in the said village around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Mendoza said they immediately informed the truck owner identified as Renato E. Hingan of Calamba Laguna about the incident.
Hingan said the truck contained 352 boxes of GSM Blue liquor amounting to about P360,000.
PO2 Robert R. Lurzano, officer on case, said the unidentified truck driver informed Hingan that the truck was towed by authorities somewhere in Laguna.
Lurzano said the driver may be subjected to interrogation considering that the truck was in his possession before it was stolen.
The police officer added that the case was turned over to the Calamba police for follow-up investigation.
“Malamang sa Laguna nangyari yung hijack at dito lang sa atin iniwan ang truck para hindi ma trace ang identity at whereabouts ng mga suspects,” Lurzano said.
