Murder suspects arrested in Candaba
December 28, 2010
CANDABA — Two murder suspects were arrested Sunday during a manhunt operation conducted by the town police.
Supt. Wilson Santos IV, Candaba police chief, identified the suspects as Honorio Maliwat, 44, married, resident of Barangay Dulong Ilog; and Felicisimo Quiambao, 43, single, of Barangay Bahay Pare. Both are businessmen engaged in duck raising.
Santos, likewise, named the victim as Gerry Villanueva, 36, married, resident of Sitio 5, Barangay Bahay Pare.
Initial investigations disclosed that Villanueva was with his common law wife Leonila Avendanio when the suspects, armed with bolo and hard wood, confronted the victim.
Quaimbao allegedly sneaked from behind and hit the victim in the back of his head. Avendanio then tried to intervene and pacify the suspects, but failed. She ran out of fear, and sought assistance.
The local police immediately responded and proceeded to the place of incident, which was an open rice field in Barangay Paligui, where they found the bloodied victim lying face down.
A manhunt operation followed, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
It was learned that Villanueva was a helper of Eduardo Mangaluz, 65, also a duck raiser from Barangay Dulong Ilog in Candaba.
