New police recruits take oath

December 2, 2010

CAMP OLIVAS – Another batch of 651 Philippine National Police (PNP) recruits took their oath at the parade grounds of the Central Luzon Police Regional Office.

According to Senior Superintendent Valiant De Guzman, deputy regional director for administration, the new recruits came from different provinces in Central Luzon.

De Guzman said there were 930 quota slots for this year’s PNP recruits in PRO3.

This year’s second phase of the regular recruitment program was composed of 505 males and 146 females, he said.

De Guzman said the applications of new recruits were processed into the police service in October this year.

He said the applicants underwent rigorous screening which included physical and agility tests, neuro-psychological test, medical and dental examinations and drug tests.

The final test, De Guzman said, was an interview with the board composed of representatives from the women’s sector, the National Police Commission, Department of Interior and Local Government and the Regional Peace and Order Council representative.

After the oath taking ceremony which was attended by the families of the recruits and personnel of PRO3, the recruits were handed over to the Director of the PNP Regional Training School (RTS3), Superintendent Noel Flores.

After their training at RTS3, the recruits will undergo the Field Training Program at local police stations which will further hone them to be “fine policemen and policewomen.”

For his part, Police Regional Director Alan La Madrid Purisima said he is positive that these new policemen “will answer the call of the PNP leadership which is to recruit the best and the brightest,” a major project of the PNP which is still in line with the PNP Integrated Transformation Program – the roadmap of the PNP to true and lasting reform.
