Onemig Bondoc withdraws Congress bid

BALANGA CITY–Actor-turned businessman Juan Miguel “Onemig” Bondoc has withdrawn from the Bataan Second District congressional race.
Bondoc personally filed his affidavit of withdrawal at the Comelec provincial office in this city on Tuesday 2 p.m.
A reliable source who requested anonymity confirmed that the former actor arrived at the decision following the private meeting that transpired between him and former governor Leonardo “Ding” Roman, also a candidate for the same congressional post.
The source, who was also present in the private meeting in an undisclosed place in Metro Manila over the weekend, said both Bondoc and Roman looked visibly happy at the end of their conversation.
The source also quoted Roman saying that Bondoc is young and can still serve his kababayan in Bataan in the future.
The Bondocs and Romans are longstanding family friends but their relationship underwent strains when the two filed for the same post in the coming 2013 elections.
With the withdrawal, three remain in the contest for the contest, namely: incumbent Governor Enrique Garcia, Makabayan Coalition bet Reynan Calderon, and Roman.
Nevertheless, the camp of Bondoc assured that the former actor will continue to be visible in the province and will implement his projects for the people of Bataan, particularly youths.
The former actor, according to his camp, also vowed to promote adventure and sports tourism industry in Bataan.
As a businessman, Bondoc is planning to set up a one-stop shop for motor sports in Hermosa, and build a go-kart race track in Abucay town.
A native of Abucay, Bondoc currently resides in Mariveles where he’s a registered voter. ● Butch Gunio
