Pampanga university to confer Education chief

ANGELES CITY — Education Secretary Armin A. Luistro will be conferred an honorary doctorate degree in Pedagogy by the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) today, April 13.
This was announced by AUF president Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles, who said Luistro is being cited for his significant contribution to the development of Catholic education in the country.
Luistro finished Bachelor of Arts (AB) in Philosophy and Letters as a scholar and Master of Arts in Religious and Values Education at De La Salle University in 1981 and 1993 respectively.
In 2005, he completed his doctorate degree (Doctor of Philosophy) in Educational Management at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City.
Luistro was conferred an honorary doctorate degree in Human Letters from La Salle University in Philadelphia in 2004.
For his untainted integrity as an educator and administrator, the 40,000-strong Department of Education (DepEd) has vowed to support his leadership in acknowledgment of his management acumen, transparency, respect for labor rights, and his commitment to push for reforms in basic education.
His first 100 days as Education secretary have seen the strengthened partnership of DepEd with the private and public sectors, and other education stakeholders. He has taken bold steps to implement the Aquino administration’s 10-point agenda in education.
Luistro is expected to address a total of 410 graduating students from the AUF Colleges of Allied Medical Professions, Arts & Sciences, Computer Studies, Education, Engineering, and Criminal Justice Education.
