Pineda leads Porac district hospital turn-over

PORAC, Pampanga – Governor Lilia G. Pineda, with councilor bet Maynard Lapid, led the inauguration and turnover of the newly-renovated Porac District Hospital Thursday.

However, the facility was renamed as Jose Songco Lapid District Hospital to give due recognition to the father of Senator Lito Lapid through a resolution approved by the provincial board.

It was learned that the hospital was funded through the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Senator Lito Lapid and the Department of Health (DOH) with P25 million and P10 million, respectively.

Dr. Romulo Lacson, chief of hospital, expressed his gratitude to the senator, represented by his son and to Dr. Leonita Gorgolon of the Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD III).

According to Lacson, the remodelled hospital now boasts of its clean and spacious patient wards as well as private rooms, its modern X-ray machine, and its 24-hour pharmacy and laboratory.

The hospital chief added the facility has been serving the residents of this town and nearby areas for 33 years now and continues to strive in the provision of quality yet affordable health services.

For its part, the provincial government will allocate an annual budget of P1 million for the operational expenses of the hospital.

“Porac residents would not need to go to Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital or other hospitals in Angeles City anymore. They now have a government health facility that will attend to their medical needs at a very low cost, even free for PhilHealth members.” Pineda stressed.

The governor also reminded the medical staff to always show compassion to patients instead of indifference as indigents are the usual clients of government hospitals.

“Let us show our appreciation for the funding allotted by the national government and Senator Lapid through the provision of quality health services to each and every patient, regardless of their status,” Pineda ended.

The inauguration was also witnessed by Board Members Olga Frances “Fritzie” David-Dizon and Salvador Dimson Jr., Mayor Condralito dela Cruz, Vice Mayor Dexter David, Councilor Mike Tapang and Guagua Councilor Anthony Joseph Torres, a candidate for board member in the Second District. ●Angelique Tuazon
